Two dozen men who had not paid their court-ordered child support were arrested and booked over the weekend, the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Office reported.

Assisting the Department of Child Support Services, deputies tried to serve 190 warrants Saturday and Sunday to fathers across the county who were violating their child-support orders, the office reported. The operation involved 34 officers who worked in teams of two from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day.

Eight of the 24 men arrested also were booked on outstanding warrants for other crimes, authorities said.

The 16 men who were arrested only on child support warrants were arraigned Monday, according to the sheriff's office. The additional eight were arraigned Tuesday.
